The tours are offered by the association, which holds official travel agency status (Atout France registration, UNAT financial guarantee, professional travel liability insurance), and are open to its members. Registration documents and booking are in French: if you need help, email us at monkeyprorider@gmail.com.

We are #ROULEURS – riders at heart. The #MONKEYPRORIDER tour concept is all about riding, bends and scenery. We make very few visits to castles, museums or heritage sites...

NON-PROFIT AND COMMUNITY-MINDED – MOTORCYCLE TOURING WITHIN REACH OF AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE

“What if solidarity and adventure could meet on the road?

Through our association, we make motorcycle touring accessible to everyone, combining mutual help, safety and a friendly atmosphere. Today, we want to give motorcycle enthusiasts the chance to live this unforgettable experience.”

The project in brief:

Our riders' association organises community-minded tours open to all, with an emphasis on mutual help, safety and personal support. We want to allow people, whether beginners or on limited budgets, to take part in motorcycle tours they could not otherwise do.

HOW ARE THE TOURS MANAGED?

THE ASSOCIATION offers the tours and manages bookings and all service providers. It books the best hotels that meet the specifications and the budgets sought.

The association holds OFFICIAL travel agency status. As such, it is registered with ATOUT FRANCE, has a financial guarantee with UNAT that protects participants, and specific professional TRAVEL liability insurance.

For a perfectly run tour, qualified professional guides are hired as service providers, just like accommodation professionals.

These professional guides choose the routes and the roadbook, lead the tour and manage relations with service providers. This division of tasks and complementarity make #MONKEYPRORIDER tours moments of pure happiness and success.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY A TOUR?

By "TOUR" we mean a full or partial package combining several services, including accommodation. Under French law, this package requires the organiser to hold "TOUR OPERATOR" or "TRAVEL AGENCY" status. The legal form – association, company or sole trader – makes no difference to this requirement.

BE CAREFUL! -- If your organiser asks you to pay for services such as hotels or meals on the spot, this amounts to undeclared travel agency activity. It often hides the fact that the organiser does not have the authorisations or insurance that protect the traveller.

HOW LONG DO OUR MOTORCYCLE ROAD TRIPS LAST?

Tours can last from 3 to 18 days.

Option 1 - We offer 3- or 4-day weekends when there is a public holiday. (Riding every day, meeting in the morning, finishing at the end of the day)

Option 2 - We offer 8-day tours (the most common). The 8 days include the first day, when we meet in the late afternoon so you have time to arrive calmly, and we part on the last day after breakfast, so you can get home during the day well rested. (There may be an extra day for special transport such as a ferry.)

Option 3 - We offer tours of 10 to 18 days. They are often foreign destinations that require some riding just to reach the first points of interest. These tours always include a half-day, or one or two rest days, during the trip.

TIP -- For distant destinations, the guide may offer "link rides": a meeting 2 or 3 days before the official tour to ride to the starting point with the other participants. It is a chance to see other gems on the way and to extend your holiday. Some "return" link rides may also be offered. These link rides are paid options in addition to the main tour.

ANSWERING RIDERS' CONCERNS

THE ASSOCIATION'S SOLUTIONS FOR MOTORCYCLE TOURING

I'm a new rider – I don't have enough confidence in my riding

Tours are led by a professional guide whose first priority is to adapt the pace and/or routes to the participants. Roadbooks can be changed on the spot. The pace and group management are also adapted to the environment.
The guide and some participants have extensive riding experience and excellent control of their motorcycles. Riding tips are given free of charge over the days to improve participants' riding and safety if needed.

I'm a passenger without a rider, but I would like to travel

Quite a few people love motorcycles but don't ride. The guide always offers his pillion seat to a passenger. That person enjoys the road trip just like the riders. On the 2024 Corsica tour, this allowed us to take along a participant who could not ride, for a full week.

I'm on a modest income but would like to come

The #MONKEYPRORIDER association receives no subsidies.
However, our aim is to make rides and tours accessible. A €150 discount will therefore be granted to 1 person who can show a modest income. This offer is limited to one person per tour, provided the minimum number of participants is reached.
The request must be made to the board in advance and accepted before booking.

I'm not used to riding several days in a row – is this tour for me?

Stages can range from 180 km to 320 km, which can mean 5 to 6 hours of riding a day. This can be tiring, as the roadbooks take participants almost exclusively along back roads. If you are not used to riding full days or have never ridden several days in a row, the solution may be to book a short tour, 4 days for example, or a 7-day tour with 1 rest day in the middle. If the tour is "hub-based" (one central accommodation and loops each day), you can ride pillion for a day with the guide or another participant.

A tour is a significant sum. Can I pay in instalments?

The association offers instalment payments over as many months as needed. The rule is that the tour must be paid in full 30 days before departure, so tours scheduled well in advance can be spread over small monthly payments. Paying in instalments is completely free.

Touring with overnight stops takes a lot of organisation. How can I manage it without going over budget?

The association handles all the costs of organising the tour. We want to stand apart from commercial companies that advertise low headline prices with extra costs to pay on the spot, such as meals or additional activities.
The price shown is all-inclusive (except motorcycle fuel and drinks). Your budget is under control, with no nasty surprises.

THE MORE OF US THERE ARE, THE LESS WE PAY!

The association has fixed costs for organising tours.
The more participants there are, the more these fixed costs are shared. It is therefore fair to adjust the price of the tour according to the number of participants.

A discount will be refunded. Here is the scale:
8 to 11 participants: price shown, no discount
12 to 14 participants: €50 refunded per person
15 or more: €80 refunded per person

FUTURE PROJECTS… Motorcycle hire* for low-cost touring

Some riders cannot afford to buy and/or maintain a motorcycle.

Their motorcycle may also not be suited to touring.

The association offers 1 motorcycle for hire*, well equipped and dedicated to touring, with luggage. The price is well below professional hire market rates**.

The aim is to offer ever more opportunities and access to riding events.

*The low-cost motorcycle hire project concerns tours in France/Europe.

**The average price charged by professionals is €160 to €300 per day, with mileage limits. #MONKEYPRORIDER offers motorcycles from €90 per day with no mileage limit (matching the tour). One day before for preparation and one day after for putting away are free.

Who organises the #MONKEYPRORIDER motorcycle tours?

It holds official travel agency status: Atout France registration, a financial guarantee with UNAT that protects participants, and specific professional travel liability insurance. Qualified professional guides choose the routes, prepare the roadbook and lead the tours. Thierry Troadec and the #MONKEYPRORIDER team.

How long does a guided motorcycle tour last?

8-day tours are the most common: we meet in the late afternoon on the first day and part after breakfast on the last day. Tours abroad last 10 to 18 days, with a half-day or one or two rest days. 3- or 4-day weekends are offered on French public holidays.

How many kilometres do we ride per day?

Stages range from 180 to 320 km, i.e. 5 to 6 hours of riding a day, almost exclusively on back roads. The #MONKEYPRORIDER tour concept is all about riding, bends and scenery, with very few visits to castles or museums.

Which destinations are on the 2027 programme?

Twenty tours: in France (Corsica, Route des Grandes Alpes, Trans-Pyrenees, Vercors, Provence, Cévennes, Cantal, Brittany, Dordogne), in Europe (Andalusia, Portugal, Sardinia, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, Scotland) and in Africa (Morocco by road, Senegal, Casamance, France–Senegal crossing).

Do I need to be a member of the association?

Yes. Tours are open to members of the #MONKEYPRORIDER association only: you join online (in French) before booking.

Can I come as a passenger or with little experience?

Yes. The guide always offers his pillion seat to a passenger travelling without their own rider. For less experienced riders, the guide adapts the pace and routes, and riding tips are given over the days. To arrive confident: the advanced road riding course.

How much does a #MONKEYPRORIDER guided motorcycle tour cost?

From €800 (Dordogne, 5 days) to €3,500 (France – Senegal crossing, 19 days) in the 2027 calendar, for 1 rider. The price shown is all-inclusive, except motorcycle fuel and drinks: nothing to pay on the spot. Payment can be spread over several months at no extra cost, with the balance due 30 days before departure, and a discount is refunded when the group is larger (€50 per person for 12 to 14 participants, €80 from 15).

How many participants per tour?

Departure is guaranteed from 8 participants (4 for the Senegal tours), in a small group; the Scotland tour is limited to 10 places. An existing group (friends, club, dealership) can also book a destination privately: VIP formula from 5 people, on quotation.

Which tour should I choose for my first group motorcycle tour?

If you have never ridden several days in a row, choose a short tour or a tour with a rest day. In the 2027 calendar: the Dordogne (5 days, about 619 km), or the 8- to 9-day tours with a day off, such as Alpilles, Luberon and Verdon or Vercors and Verdon.

Do I need my own motorcycle?

In France and Europe, yes: tours are open from 300 cc, with sufficient riding experience. In Morocco, your own motorcycle or a hired one. In Senegal and for the France – Senegal crossing, the tour is ridden on a hired motorcycle (Honda Transalp 600 or equivalent), with an A or A2 licence.
