We are #ROULEURS – riders at heart. The #MONKEYPRORIDER tour concept is all about riding, bends and scenery. We make very few visits to castles, museums or heritage sites... Make sure you can ride about 250 to 300 km a day, several days in a row. Back roads only. Our pace and riding method allow most riders to take part, but too low a riding level could hold the group back and make it difficult to finish the stages in a reasonable time.

A first for me with Monkeyprorider: I rode the Route des Grandes Alpes in August and can only congratulate the organisation – a superb job on the routes, the accommodation and a great atmosphere, and above all a maestro, Thierry, as our guide. A superb experience and surely one of my best trips. (translated from French)

We meet on the first evening at the accommodation near Alès, in the Gard. We cross the Cévennes on the area's iconic roads and head for the Tarn and its gorges, famous among riders. Later in the day we reach the Haut-Languedoc plateau, where we stay near Saint-Affrique. Then we cross the Haut-Languedoc plateau and head south through the Minervois and the Corbières regional nature park. We join the tour group in the evening at the accommodation.
.
DAY 1 - 0 KM - WELCOME IN PERPIGNAN
We meet on the first evening at the accommodation near Perpignan. A chance to get to know each other over drinks and dinner in a friendly setting. A quick check on the week ahead is made.
DAY 2 - APPROX. 270 KM - GALAMUS, MONT-LOUIS, PAILHÈRES
Breakfast and safety briefing at the start of the adventure. The plan is to cross the Pyrenees via the finest spots. We start the day with the Galamus gorges, a little rocky gem. Then the day takes us past many points of interest, such as Mont-Louis and the Col de Pailhères. We reach the evening's accommodation in the Ariège Pyrenees nature park.
DAY 3 - APPROX. 250 KM - PEYRESOURDE AND PORTILLON
The day alternates small, winding mountain roads and flowing sections with magnificent views. We cross no fewer than 4 passes as well as the Spanish border. The Col de Peyresourde and the Col du Portillon are among the highlights. The guide will take you along a shortcut that is as surprising as it is sensational: a narrow one-way road that feels like a secret passage…… surprise!!
DAY 4 - APPROX. 170 KM - SHORT STAGE ON THE SPANISH SIDE
This day is all about rest. The distance is reduced so we can recover a little. We stay on the Spanish side, heading for the Valles Occidentales nature park. A chance to ride through some magnificent valleys and stop in picturesque villages such as Ansó. A few technical roads and twisty sections round off the day in Navarre, where we reach our accommodation.
DAY 5 - APPROX. 270 KM - MARIE-BLANQUE, SOULOR, AUBISQUE
A great day of passes, heading for the most famous spots in the Pyrenees. We ride well-known names from the Tour de France: the Col de Marie-Blanque, the Col du Soulor, the Col d'Aubisque – we cross all the high points of this mountain range. We reach our accommodation in the Lavedan, the south-western part of Bigorre.
DAY 6 - APPROX. 260 KM - ASPIN AND TOURMALET
The passes aren't over yet. Today we keep ticking off famous names such as the Col d'Aspin and the Tourmalet. Another day full of twisty roads, hairpins and beautiful views. We cross the border one last time into Spain to enjoy some very unusual but extremely welcoming accommodation. You will discover that Spain also has a real local architectural history.
DAY 7 - APPROX. 190 KM - RIPOLL AND PRATS-DE-MOLLO
The last riding day, and not the least interesting for a rider. We stay on the Spanish side as long as possible to enjoy winding mountain roads and beautiful scenery. We pass through Ripoll, a chance for a short walk in this town steeped in history. We return to France through the Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste nature reserve to reach the last accommodation of the tour, near Amélie-les-Bains.
DAY 8 - 0 KM - END OF THE TOUR
A friendly breakfast and the group says goodbye. End of the tour
Depending on the season, hotel availability or the number of people registered (and their riding level), some constraints may require the guide to change the routes and/or overnight stops. The guide alone decides what is needed to keep to the timing, make the most of the planned stops and ensure the overall comfort of the group. These changes cannot be disputed.

PREPARING YOUR TRANS-PYRENEES MOTORCYCLE TOUR: THE GUIDE'S TIPS
The Trans-Pyrenees by motorcycle crosses the Pyrenees between France and Spain, from the great passes to forgotten little roads. A magnificent adventure that needs a little preparation: here is our advice. It complements the briefing your qualified guide gives every morning before setting off.
Plan for mountain weather
In the Pyrenees, fog and rain can appear within minutes on a pass. Keep your rain gear close at hand and your visor clean: seeing well and being seen makes all the difference.
Watch out for livestock
Cows, horses and sheep often graze freely at altitude and cross the road without warning. Slow down when approaching herds and don't use your horn.
Have your papers ready for Spain
The tour crosses back and forth over the border: bring your ID, the motorcycle's registration document and an insurance certificate valid in the countries you ride through.
