We are #ROULEURS – riders at heart. The #MONKEYPRORIDER tour concept is all about riding, bends and scenery. We make very few visits to castles, museums or heritage sites... Make sure you can ride about 250 to 300 km a day, several days in a row. Back roads only. Our pace and riding method allow most riders to take part, but too low a riding level could hold the group back and make it difficult to finish the stages in a reasonable time.

A first for me with Monkeyprorider: I rode the Route des Grandes Alpes in August and can only congratulate the organisation – a superb job on the routes, the accommodation and a great atmosphere, and above all a maestro, Thierry, as our guide. A superb experience and surely one of my best trips. (translated from French)
ANDRÉ M. ★★★★★ - Google review - 12 August 2025 -

PROGRAMME OF THE CANTAL, TARN & CÉVENNES MOTORCYCLE TOUR
DAY 1 - 0 KM - WELCOME IN BÉZIERS
We meet in the late afternoon at the first accommodation near Béziers. A chance to get to know each other over a friendly dinner and to hold a briefing on the week ahead
DAY 2 - APPROX. 260 KM - HAUT-LANGUEDOC AND ALBI
This first riding day takes us into the Tarn from the south. We arrive via the Haut-Languedoc plateau, and the roads are already a joy: twisty sections, passes and forest to warm up. We pass east of Albi to reach the start of the river and begin to wind along it. First stop near Saint Come de Tarn
DAY 3 - APPROX. 232 KM - LAC DE PARELOUP, HEADING FOR THE CANTAL
Heading for the Lac de Pareloup, then north. This day takes us through beautiful countryside with a few low passes that still reveal some fine views. Local farmhouse architecture comes into view. We settle for several nights in a lovely, friendly campsite (no tents, don't worry). We are already in the Cantal, at the foot of the Auvergne.
DAY 4 - APPROX. 231 KM - AUVERGNE LOOP
Today's programme is a fine loop of about 230 km west of Clermont-Ferrand, riding around the Puy de Dôme. On the way back down we cross the Dordogne as well as other lakes such as the Lac de Lastioulles. Back near Condat for a friendly evening
DAY 5 - APPROX. 142 KM - THE PUY MARY
A 2nd short loop, heading for the Puy Mary, the area's iconic mountain. This short riding day leaves time to stop and visit a few picturesque villages. Twisty roads and flowing sections alternate throughout the day.
DAY 6 - APPROX. 270 KM - SAINT-FLOUR, AUBRAC, SAINTE-ENIMIE
We leave the Cantal to the east and pass near Saint-Flour. The guide always favours back roads, passes and countryside. We cross the Aubrac and join the 2nd part of the Tarn, with well-known towns on the edge of the gorges such as Sainte-Enimie. We end the ride near Florac-Trois-Rivières.
DAY 7 - 0 KM - REST DAY
A well-deserved rest day. A chance to relax with a book or, why not, go for a good hike if you enjoy walking.
DAY 8 - APPROX. 175 KM - THE TARN GORGES
We rejoin the Tarn gorges and ride the whole of their most exceptional section: twisty roads and a ridge road. A short detour towards "LES VIGNES" reveals a magnificent spot. We return from the south, passing through the most picturesque and touristy of the local villages: Meyrueis.
DAY 9 - APPROX. 171 KM - CÉVENNES AND MONT AIGOUAL
The Cévennes as you never imagined them: goat tracks of roads, views that appear out of nowhere, rocky nature… and huge twisty sections. We ride the famous "Barre-des-Cévennes" and much more. Then on to Mont Aigoual, its weather station and its 360° view at 1,500 m. After the cool air of the summit, we descend to Meyrueis again.
DAY 10 - APPROX. 210 KM - DOURBIE, NAVACELLES, SALAGOU
We continue our journey on Cévennes roads. You will discover the roads of the Dourbie, often used for hill climbs and road rallies… Riding the Dourbie, you pass through L'Espérou, the stronghold of riders from the Montpellier and Béziers areas. A big panorama in the second half of the day with the Cirque de Navacelles, a must-see site in the region. We pass through one of the most beautiful listed villages in France before settling in a landscape that contrasts in every way: the Lac du Salagou and its red rock.
DAY 11 - 0 KM - END OF THE TOUR
It's already over, and every day has been a feast for the eyes. Hugs and promises to meet again on another trip: it's the end, and we part after breakfast.
Depending on the season, hotel availability or the number of people registered (and their riding level), some constraints may require the guide to change the routes and/or overnight stops. The guide alone decides what is needed to keep to the timing, make the most of the planned stops and ensure the overall comfort of the group. These changes cannot be disputed.

PREPARING YOUR MOTORCYCLE TOUR OF THE CANTAL, TARN AND CÉVENNES: THE GUIDE'S TIPS
Auvergne volcanoes, green plateaus, the Tarn gorges and the Cévennes: this motorcycle tour celebrates the beautiful French countryside. Here is our guide's advice for preparing it. It complements the briefing your qualified guide gives every morning before setting off.
Plan for changeable weather
In the Cantal, the weather can change quickly, even in summer. A warm layer and rain gear in your bag will save you a lot of trouble.
Share the road with herds
Cows and farm vehicles are common on small high-altitude roads. Slow down, don't use your horn and wait until the way is clear.
Stay alert in the gorges
Between the Tarn and the Cévennes, gorge roads require careful reading: tight bends, gravel and oncoming traffic.
